Default Tablet fun..the lesser version XD (My artworks)

Haha just thought I'd do a spin off of Charlie's Tablet Fun thread. My artwork's nowhere near his caliber but I thought I'd share some of the stuff that I did with my newly acquired wacom pen and touch and tinkering with Photoshop Elements..(got it two or three weeks ago)

I have previous Photoshop experience but only used it in making banners and avatars before. It did help me ease in to digital coloring though.

One thing that kinda bothers me is that my digital artworks seem to look so different from each other..as if I am having some identity crisis lol. I am still learning though so that may be the case and some styles are kinda experimental.

From the earliest to the latest (I have earlier ones but they were merely practice stuff.):

My Necromancer and Ritualist (owned by a friend)

First Commission for Eastern Magik

Vamp version of my mesmer (quick sketch/coloring)

Second Commission for Eastern Magik

Third Commission for Eastern Magik

Latest one (Another quick sketch for a guildie. Sorry cant find the thumbnail version)

Like all Magiks commissions, your specially good at hair! If I were you spend a bit more time in armor, if I see what you can do, I think you can do that alot better. Keep it up!

Yup I agree. That's actually one of my.."to be improved upon" stuff. I focus too much on the face and hair.

Right now, I want to focus on improving on the following (I am keeping the list short so I won't be too overwhelmed. ^^).

1. weapons/armors/clothing
2. full body and poses
3. Drawing backgrounds (Although I haven't really tried this one.)

I also have this issue on having a spastic hand..cant seem to draw a straight curve or line. I dunno if that's one of the drawbacks of being born a lefty and was forced to become right handed (I draw with my right hand) lol.

Oh and if you guys have any pointers and tips, I would appreciate it very much.

Yes, seconding what Tommy said about the armor.

In regards to your list of things you want to work on, I suggest focusing on anatomy for now (go from portraits to full figure drawing) and then eventually jump into backgrounds. Both are extremely different in regards to how space treats them, and would be easier to work on each at separate times.

Other than that, keep on keepin on.

Nice pics

I agree with Tommy's.
A good way to learn/improve is to look at other peoples artwork (deviantart.com is a great place)
I would forget about backgrounds for now if I were you, as I think it's more important to draw a good character. Backgrounds will come when you are aware of your style and do great characters^^

Cheers!
If any interest: http://mathiastemplar.deviantart.com/gallery/ <- my own gallery.. did some GW stuff too

@Yun Thanks. I'll look him up XD

Here's WIP I had from last week as well (it's my ranger). Dont think I am gonna finish it. I made a new one last night which is turning out to be much better. I should've been done with it if my computer didnt give me the blue screen of death at 1 AM..so I just went to sleep

Here's a sketch of full body drawing attempt. Excuse the messy lines and I am still deciding on where to position the head ^^. It's supposed to be my monk:

On a sidenote, here's the art that I finished last night, my ranger:

Looks good. Anatomy on the monk is good :3 Great legs, I always find knees a pain. She could have bigger boobs, but ah wel..

I'd say the shoulders needs to be broadened a bit on the full body, more on her right shoulder than left; it looks like the arm is being sucked into the torso. But I think the proportion ratio looks just about right.

I think the boobs are fine, but it looks like you put her front of her body one step further out for each part of the body. The area under the boobs is about the same as right above it; where arm meets torso, not the muscle itself though. Also I think there should be more hip and butt on her right side, and less on her left (our right).

Hope my criticism helps.

The anatomy is off to a good start. I'm looking at it the same way as mentioned above. As Gemini mentioned, you should put more emphasis on her left hip pushing slightly out and back along with weight pushing down on her right leg through bending the right knee. This emphasizes that slight twisting motion in her stance.

Ok I did not disappear in the face of the earth lol. Decided to change my drawing. Heres my progress so far..

I used a reference for the pose . Still got a lot of adjustments to make (such as the arm..need to establish that it's at an angle that's moving away from the front) and I am currently putting in the details of the corset..working on from the head to toe in cleaning up the lineart and fixing stuff.

Nice butt!

Seriously though, I see that your work on armors is improving. Eventually though you will find a perfect balance of both.

Thanks guys! Took a break from full body real quick and tried to practice a smoother style for portraits (still a little rough though. ^^)

This is Phoenix, a friend's monk. Here is the reference pic:
